Daxter Yeo is a contemporary Australian composer. He began classical piano studies, music composition and clarinet from a young age. His early influences came from his involvement with the Singapore Youth Orchestra. Daxter obtained his Licentiate and Fellowship Diplomas from the Trinity College of Music in London, and he has read music with some of Australia’s most distinguished composers, including Peter Sculthorpe and Colin Brumby.
Over the years, Daxter has received many accolades for his compositions, both locally and internationally. In 2019, his “Essix Suite” and “Hinterland Piano Concerto” won first prize at the composition competition organised by the Queensland Music Teachers Association and was performed in Gold Coast, Australia.
Apart from his love for music, Daxter is a successful orthodontist who manages four busy orthodontic practices across Brisbane, Australia, as well as lecturing at the University. He continues to teach music and write music as a freelance composer.
