Seattle-based composer and pianist, Kari Cruver Medina, has worked as a music director, studio musician and Emmy-nominated composer for film, theatre and television. Her music has been featured across the United States and abroad, with choral and orchestral works premiered recently in both Europe and Asia. Kari’s solo piano piece, “Web and Wings”, was announced as the winner of the Renee B. Fisher Composer Award for 2021. “Winter Has Come” recently won the 2019 Cornwall International Male Choir Festival composition contest, and her anthem, “Stand in the Light”, was one of the 2019 international winners selected for the 150th Anniversary Hong Kong Children’s Choir Choral Composition Contest. Recent premieres include several orchestral works performed by Singapore’s own Ensemble de la Belle Musique: “Christmas Reveries”, “One Snowy Day…” and “Connemara”. A Washington State native, Kari studied with William Bergsma and Loran Olsen. She and her husband, John, have two sons.
