Lynn Blake John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Maryland and a Master’s degree in Education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She studied composition with Peter Williams, professor of music at the University of Wales in Swansea and she also studied music theory at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Lynn was a Composition Fellow at the 2018 Wyoming Festival, 2nd prize winner of the Cypress (Texas) Clarinet Quartet Competition 2018, winner of 2019 “Call for Scores”, Spring Solo Clarinet Recital (Emily Mehigh, Chicago), winner of 2019 “Call for Scores” (Singapore) for Ensemble de la Belle Musique, one of top five finalists of 2019 “Call for Scores” for Veridian Symphony Orchestra (California), 1st prize winner for 2019 Minute of Music Project “Trumpetoon” (trumpet and bassoon), and winner for 2019 “Call for Scores”, Chromatic Fusion. Her recent compositions include the operetta, “FeatherEx”. Lynn played the flute, oboe and bassoon and she currently teaches piano.
