Nadin Polyakova, born in Kazakhstan in 1987, is an emerging Russian composer. She graduated from the University of Arts in Astana in 2010 and completed Berklee Online’s Music Composition for Film and Television course in 2014.
Nadin focuses more on composing works for full orchestra, but she also writes music for small and large ensembles. Most of her works are based on a contrast she uses for appealing to listeners’ attention by alternating between different kind of structures and textures, tempo and rhythms, brightness and beauty of melody and harmony, involving every instrument on a variety of its traditional functions, techniques and registers, giving opportunity to every player to express himself/herself.
Nadin is a winner of the following competitions: “International Open Competition in Author’s Music Video” (Moscow, 2015), “Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame. Third Wheel Trio” (USA, 2017), “Listening to Ladies. Vent Nouveau” (USA, 2017), “OnTime 2017. Water” (USA, 2017). Two of her compositions were performed as a result of the winning competitions listed above: “Small Trio” for flute, clarinet and bassoon by Third Wheel Trio (Glendale, California, Brand Library & Art Center, 25th March 2017) and “Nepomuk” for wind ensemble and piano by Vent Nouveau (NYC, Gallery MC, 1st April 2017).
